The Dandelion Collection

Inspired by my love of dandelions, they bring back happy childhood memories of spring and summer, playing outside in the sunshine and losing track of time. 

For me dandelions create feelings of freedom and possibility, the young seeds (or fairy parachutes as some say) flying away on a new adventure. I use vibrant acrylics, creating depth and movement through expressive brushstrokes, palette knives, and splatter techniques to capture this feeling.

The dandelion is the only flower that represents the three celestial bodies of the sun, moon and stars. The paintings can be split into these three groups depicting the life cycle:

• Scenes of dandelions growing without bounds (yellow flowers and puffballs) - sun

• Explosions of seeds from the dandelion head - moon

• Dandelion seeds flying through the sky - stars
